Fantastic reference book

Everything you want and more! Factual, compact and great quality. Valuable resource.

Pros
Fits in anywhere, quick reference and a trusty source to have around.

Cons
Font is a bit tiny but I would’nt change it. Maybe have an option for a bigger font size in a bigger book?

Great Resource

Very Handy Reference Book

Pros
Laminated pages, lay flat spiral bound. Lots of info not included in other references such as O-ring sizes, machine tapers, toolholder and insert identification.

Cons
None really.

There were some stainless alloys missing I use. I suppose everyone would like one more thing or another and it would wind up three times as thick.

Minor typo, extra space noticed in page 209 large operator height inch dimension 74.0_2"

Fantastic Quick Reference

Fantastic reference for stashing just about anywhere

Pros
Valuable resource for quick look ups of all the stuff we forget. I have two goto references, Machinery Handbook and the Black Book. Black Book is quicker for most everyday usage. Love the wipe off pages. I recommend this book as a reference to others all the time.

Cons
For older eyes, a bit tiny. Wish there was an option for one a bit bigger. It would be worth the extra $$. Wish there was a bigger section on plastics and types. Correlating recycle symbols with type and characteristics (e.g the triangle with number in the center).

Suggested improvements

Comments
Just received this book and the fastener book. Both have a good spread of relevant content, well presented.

Pros
Good format clear and concise. Handy toolbox size and plasticised.

Cons
The stick-on tabs will be less durable than colour coding the page margins for different sections. On pages 112/113, Bearings, could the advice on bearing mounting and removal be condensed and more information given on bearing codes and tolerance markings.

Had the pocket edition at work. Bought the benchtop 3rd edition, metric for home and it is fantastic.
Item received in rural Western Australia in a few days from ordering. Great service.

Pros
Big pages, big print. A boon as you get older. Worth the extra few dollars.

Fantastic book with most info to hand with a simple index.

Pros
Contains nearly everything you will ever need to know. Index is very simple to follow and the drill bit shaping gauge is perfect.

Cons
I feel that speeds and feeds could be covered more for different metals.

Machinist

Comments
Lots of very useful information and easy to find what you need in it.

Pros
Very short and to the point. Not a bunch of extra info to make finding stuff more difficult.

Cons
Would be nice to have common metals and alloys speeds and feeds listed.

Handy Reference

May 11, 2020 By: Schuyler Grace, Vanishing Point Creative Services (Mesa, United States)

Comments
A great quick reference to almost anything machining related, and the large-print edition is very easy to read.

Pros
Book is nicely printed and bound and easy to navigate and read. It's Machinery's Handbook when you don't have the time or need to wade through thousands of pages of details.

Cons
None so far.

If you are interested in Machining, this is a “Must Have” book

Pros
A lot of valuable information

Cons
Pages should be more protected. If you need it in the workshop, make sure to keep it away from any oil
